What a gem of a story - Lily Morton never fails to write a book that has some angst but never, ever fails to make you laugh - and, in this case, Hank Marvin definitely had a starring role. Frankie’s husband, David, died three years ago and, though it wasn’t under the best of circumstances, his life has been on hold. Until he had a lightbulb moment when he realised that David’s best friend Con (and also his) had become so much more. Although this was a relatively short book, and yes I would have loved more of Frankie and Con, I didn’t get the feeling that we were missing out. “…you’ve found the slot where you fit.”

Lily Morton never fails with a friends to lovers romance, she's one of the few author's I trust to write this trope without making me want to stop reading because it's too sweet. I'm always an enemies to lovers reader over every other trope, but Lily Morton's books are definitely my go to for friends who want to be more and her characters always have so much personality and snark that you can't help but laugh. Frankie is adorably clueless. He doesn't recognise his own feelings, and he can't see what's right in front of him until he thinks he's about to lose it - he was exasperating yet I still really wanted him to get his HEA because he really deserved it. Con was a sweetheart but I did keep shouting at him to just say how he felt already! Also, Lily Morton always, ALWAYS, makes me envious of these characters living in their pretty Cotswold villages! Everytime I drive through them I get house envy and wish I could go live there, so at least I get to live vicariously through these characters I guess. I smiled the entire way through this story and I'm always left with that happy feeling whenever I finish a Lily Morton book. Can't wait for the next one!

I am beyond excited that this story was released a few hours ago. It's funny; snarky, warm and filled with one liners to make you laugh, swoon and will use in the future. " because we should never let anything stay in tissue paper" Get your eye drops ready and accept you too will struggle to stop reading until the very end. Thank you Lily for yet another fabulous story. Next!!! x

It was wonderful to read The Player again, and the epilogue was perfect 👌 Funny, snarky, and some serious moments, everything I expect from 1 of Lily's books. Lily always creates characters I would like to meet in real life, and Frankie and Con, Joan and George don't disappoint, and we get Max and Felix cameos!

Well, Lily Morton has done it again. I laughed and cried(mostly laughed) and wondered how she does it. Her characters are so well written and the situations that they find themselves in are hysterical. This story is no exception. I fell in love with the two main leads and enjoyed all of the other characters in the book. It’s definitely worth the read and I’m hoping that it comes out in audio as well. Thanks, Ms. Morton for another stellar book!❤️❤️❤️
